Black Angus cattle are well-known for the quality of their beef. Since our goal was to raise cattle that could be grass-fed and grass-finished, we sought out a Certified Organic farm with Black Angus cattle that were already raised eating only fresh pasture and hay. This allowed for an easy transition when our first steers and heifers arrived in 2014.
Milking Devon cattle are a rare breed and I hoped to raise purebred offspring. This didn’t work out, so Ginger, Eva and Bella were bred to the same Black Angus/ Simmental bull that bred the Black Angus heifers.
I now have seven black calves that are healthy, happy and still with their moms.
